1 killed in snowmobile crash in Fulton County

CAROGA LAKE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A New Jersey man is dead following a snowmobile crash in the town of Caroga Lake on Friday, according to New York State Police. The incident reportedly occurred on a trail about a half-mile behind 253 County Road 111. State Police said they were dispatched to the scene at about 11:10 p.m. The victim, identified as 54-year-old Stephen Banks of Cream Ridge, was reportedly driving a snowmobile when it failed to go around a curve in the trail and hit a tree. Upon arrival to the scene, Caroga Lake Fire Department personnel performed life-saving measures on Banks. Police said the 54-year-old was then taken by ambulance to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, where he was pronounced dead. State Police said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
