1 killed in I-70 crash in Lake St. Louis
LAKE ST. LOUIS, Mo. - One person was killed in a crash Saturday morning on Interstate 70 in Lake St. Louis, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 8 a.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes of I-70 near Lake St. Louis Boulevard. A MSHP spokesperson tells FOX 2 that two vehicles were involved and one person died from injuries suffered in the crash. No other injuries were reported. According to an MSHP crash report, a driver in a 2022 Hyundai Elantra failed to maintain a single lane of travel and struck a 2005 Toyota Tacoma vehicle from behind. The crash caused the Tacoma to skid and overturn, ejecting the driver from the vehicle. The Tacoma driver was pronounced dead at the scene. MSHP reports the victim was a 70-year-old man from St. Charles, but did not dicslose his identity. There were some traffic backups as police worked to clear the scene, but traffic lanes have since reopened on I-70. Additional details are limited at this time.
