1 killed in fiery overnight crash along the Kennedy Expressway

CHICAGO — A fiery crash involving several cars left one person dead and shut down a portion of the inbound Kennedy overnight. Illinois State Police Troopers said it all unfolded around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday along the Southbound lanes of I-90, near Natoma Avenue in Norwood Park. According to troopers, a preliminary investigation indicates that five cars were initially involved in the crash, which forced three of the cars off the roadway. Troopers said the three cars then struck a light pole before catching fire. One of the drivers involved was later pronounced dead on the scene and troopers said more injuries were reported, though it is unclear how many. Because of the crash, troopers shut down a portion of the Kennedy Expressway, though all roads have since reopened. Currently, it is unclear what led to the crash and an investigation is underway.
