1 killed, another arrested after crash in NW DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- One person was killed, and another was arrested after a crash in Northwest D.C. on Saturday, according to the U.S. Park Police (USPP). Police said the crash occurred at 3:30 a.m in the intersection of 17th Street NW and Constitution Ave. NW. According to police, the driver of the suspect vehicle ran from the scene but was quickly taken into custody by the U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division and transferred to the custody of USPP. Police said the driver of the second vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger was found to have been ejected from the car and was pronounced dead. The USPP has not identified the suspect driver or the deceased victim. The incident remains under investigation, with charges being coordinated with the U.S. Attorney's Office.
