1 killed, 3 injured in Johnson City downtown crash early Saturday morning
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) - One person is dead and three are injured after a car drove into the parking lot across the street from the Trek bicycle shop in downtown Johnson City on Saturday morning, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) confirmed with News Channel 11. According to THP, the driver of the vehicle lost control, hit the curb and continued into the West Main Street parking lot, hitting a lamp and city signage before stopping in a set of bushes around 1:29 a.m. Toby Cornett, 34, died from injuries, according to THP. Law enforcement also confirmed three were injured: a 22-year-old and two 23-year-olds. In a report from THP, News Channel 11, learned that Steven Kotsonis, 36, was driving the vehicle and there were two passengers accompanying him at the time of the incident. Charges are pending.
