1 killed, 2 injured after getting hit by driver who fled scene: Sheriff’s office
DENVER (KDVR) — One person is dead and two others were taken to hospitals after a hit-and-run crash Monday morning in Highlands Ranch, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. at Willowbridge Way and East Wildcat Reserve Parkway in Highlands Ranch, sheriff's office spokesperson Deborah Takahara said in a press release. A Ford F-150 was driving east on Wildcat Reserve Parkway when it left the road for an unknown reason, hitting a group of three people who were on the sidewalk, Takahara said witnesses reported seeing. The truck fled the scene, Takahara said. First responders arrived to find one of the victims dead at the scene and took the other two to area hospitals, according to a South Metro Fire spokesperson. They did not release the conditions of those two victims. A witness who saw the crash followed the truck after it left the scene and reported its location to the sheriff's office, which has since arrested the truck driver, Takahara said. Investigators are still looking into the crash to determine what caused it.
