1 dead, several injured after major crash on FM 973 in Manor

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person has died, and several others were injured Sunday morning after a major crash in Manor. The Manor Police Department said officers responded around 4 a.m. near the 11700 block of North Farm-to-Market Road 973. At the time of the crash, the road was blocked in both directions in front of Lagos Elementary School. The roadway reopened shortly after 9 a.m. MPD said officers arrived in less than two minutes after the crash occurred and found two vehicles with significant damage and multiple people in critical condition. First responders assisted with one person who had significant injuries in one vehicle, and four occupants of a second vehicle who had life-threatening injuries, including two children. MPD said an 11-month-old was in critical condition, and an approximately 2-year-old child was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 23-year-old woman died at the scene, and two men were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. MPD said the cause of the crash was under investigation, and the identities of the people involved would not yet be released.  According to MPD, several other agencies also responded to the crash, including the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, Travis County Emergency Services District 12, and Austin-Travis County EMS.
