1 dead, driver charged after deadly Bardstown crash
BARDSTOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — One person is dead, and another has been charged following a fatal crash Friday in Nelson County. Kentucky State Police said in a news release that the crash happened around 4:15 p.m. May 15 on Shepherdsville Road. According to investigators, 52-year-old Teudis Hernandez of Louisville was driving south when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, 79-year-old Edward Hovan of Coxs Creek, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 71-year-old Christine Hovan, was taken to UofL Hospital with severe injuries and remains in critical condition. As a result of the investigation, Hernandez was arrested and charged with murder, first-degree assault, driving under the influence, and failure to produce an insurance card. He is being held at the Nelson County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
