1 dead after police pursuit ends in crash in Edwardsville
MADISON COUNTY, IL. - A person was killed early Monday morning after a police pursuit ended in a crash in Edwardsville. The crash occurred a little after midnight Monday morning on the intersection of South Main and East Vandalia Streets in downtown Edwardsville. The crash involved a Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The police pursuit began in downtown Edwardsville. At some point, the pickup truck crashed into the Redmon Insurance Agency building, located on the 100 block of South Main Street, leaving significant damage to the building. According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), one person was left dead in the crash. Details on the crash remain unclear. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including ISP, Edwardsville City Police and the SIUE-Edwardsville Police Department.
