1 dead after overnight crash along 5 Freeway in Pacoima
A person died in a crash on the 5 Freeway in Pacoima overnight, authorities say. The crash occurred on the northbound span of the freeway near Terra Bella Street just before 3:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. While not much was disclosed about the crash itself, LAFD stated that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no word on their identity. A SigAlert was issued indicating many northbound lanes in the area were shut down in the wake of the collision. Covering the Nos. 1-6 lanes, the SigAlert is set to expire at 8 a.m. Sunday. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
