1 dead after collision between truck, train in Polk County: deputies
POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A collision between a truck and train left one person dead Thursday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on the train tracks off Kathleen Road, near Spivey Road in northwest Lakeland. Deputies said a train and truck were involved but did not give any further details on how the crash might have happened. Google Maps shows a stretch of road leading into a tire shop near the area. It appears drivers have to cross the train tracks from Kathleen Road to get to the shop. The identity of the person killed has not yet been released. No other injuries were reported. The sheriff's office said its investigation was ongoing Thursday evening, and more information would be provided at a later date.
