1 dead, 4 injured in Abilene rollover crash
ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning claimed the life of a 17-year-old Abilene resident. The crash occurred at approximately 12:52 a.m. on June 7 in the 6500 block of West Lake Road. When first responders arrived, they found a Toyota RAV4 that had rolled over with five occupants inside. Four passengers were transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as 17-year-old Michael Menjares of Abilene. Next of Kin have been notified. According to the Abilene Police Department, the SUV was traveling southbound when it began to veer to the right. The vehicle entered a grass-lined drainage ditch and rolled over. Investigators say intoxication does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The Abilene Police Department's Traffic Division continues to investigate the incident.
