1 dead, 3 injured when boat crashes into Logan International Airport pier in Boston

One woman died and three people were injured late Wednesday night when a recreational boat crashed into a pier at Boston's Logan International Airport, police said.Massachusetts State Police said the boat crashed into Pier 4R just after 11 p.m. One man and three women were aboard the boat, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office. The victims were taken to Mass General Hospital, where Elizabeth Dankert, 24, of Andover, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead. Dankert and her two friends were in the Seaport District earlier Wednesday night when they boarded the boat of a 40-year-old man, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden's office."Multiple units from Boston EMS responded overnight to a challenging boat incident. In difficult conditions, including darkness and slippery shoreline rocks, EMTs George May and Andrea Albano located the scene and began patient care," Boston EMS posted on X. "Working in close coordination with Massport Fire, crews carefully extricated four patients from the rocks."The man and two other women, who were not identified, are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries."I extend my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Elizabeth Dankert, and I assure them that all aspects of this tragedy are under investigation. I want to thank EMS personnel and other first responders for their exceptional treatment and recovery work under extremely difficult conditions," Hayden said. State Police assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office and Environmental Police responded to the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
