1 dead, 2 injured in Independence crash on Noland Road
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person is dead and two others are seriously injured following a crash on Wednesday evening in Independence. The crash was reported just after 5:40 p.m. near the intersection of southbound Noland Road, north of 35th Street. The Independence Police Department said the crash happened when the driver of a van, traveling northbound, crossed over the center of the road into the southbound lanes of Noland Road and struck a truck that was traveling southbound. Police said the two vehicles collided head-on. The crash blocked the southbound lanes of Noland Road near Truman High School. The road was closed for several hours and reopened at 9:30 p.m. The driver of the van was pronounced dead on the scene. The two people in the truck were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries, according to police. The Independence Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.
