1 dead, 1 seriously injured after crash in Greenwich
GREENWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- One person is dead and another has serious injuries after a crash Sunday morning in Greenwich, police say. At about 2:10 a.m., an officer from the Greenwich Police Department was watching Delavan Avenue for speeding drivers when a Lexus LS400 traveled by at 50mph. Delavan Avenue is a 25mph zone. The Lexus then ran a red light at the intersection of Delavan Avenue and Frontage Road. The officer followed the Lexus and found it crashed into a pole on W. Ritch Avenue with significant vehicle damage. When additional crews responded to the scene, they found two people in the car: a driver and front-seat passenger. Police say the driver was found dead and the passenger has serious injuries as a result of the crash. Officials advise drivers to stay clear of W. Ritch Avenue as crews repair the pole.
