Worker fatally injured in Farmington Hills traffic accident

Three road workers in Oakland County were hit by a vehicle going the wrong way on Orchard Lake Road, resulting in the death of one and leaving the other two critically injured. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning near Misty Pines Drive. The driver of a silver SUV crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with a parked county vehicle, striking the workers. Farmington Hills police closed down the road for assessment and are investigating why the driver was driving in the wrong direction. Chief John Piggott raised questions about the circumstances of the incident. The workers had taken safety precautions to alert drivers to their presence. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities have not disclosed the identities of those involved. Remember, Michigan's Move Over law requires motorists to slow down and move over for emergency personnel and road service workers on the roadside. If changing lanes is not an option, drivers must reduce speed when passing the emergency vehicle or workers.
