Woman on electric bike killed in Baldwinsville crash

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A woman driving an electric bike has died as a result of a crash on Syracuse Street, the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office confirms to NewsChannel 9. A vehicle was headed northbound on the street when a woman driving an electric bike, headed southbound against traffic, veered into the driving lane and hit the vehicle. As of 8:30 a.m., Syracuse Street, also known as State Route 48, is closed between Tappan Street and Downer Street. The crash happened around 3:37 a.m. The sheriff's office said that the adult female was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on-scene, uninjured, and is cooperating fully. People who live near where the crash happened tell NewsChannel 9 that when they called 911, they were told by dispatchers to attempt CPR until first responders arrived. This remains an active and open investigation.
