Woman in Detroit charged in fatal car crash that claimed lives of married couple

A Detroit woman is being charged with causing a fatal crash that claimed the lives of a husband and wife who were well-loved in their community and parents to five young children. Pastor Phil Carr of Christ Church of Southfield fondly remembers these close friends who tragically lost their lives. He described the couple, 43-year-old Kwasi Agbottah and 41-year-old Elizabeth, as "Kingdom Nice," highlighting their kindness and the positive impact they had on others. They had intentionally chosen a simple lifestyle without a car, dedicating themselves to serving and mentoring the youth in the city. The couple, known as "urban missionaries," were passionate about education and empowering children, with Kwasi even writing children's books. The driver responsible for the crash, 33-year-old Dejah Berry, faces charges for speeding and losing control of her vehicle, resulting in the fatal accident. Despite the tragedy, friends and family are rallying together to organize a celebration of life for the couple and provide support to their five children during this difficult time.
