Woman confesses to deceiving police in Coldwater Lake deadly boat crash inquiry

In August 2024, a tragic incident occurred on Coldwater Lake, just north of the Indiana border in Michigan, resulting in the death of a man following a collision between two boats. One of the boats involved, driven by Zachary Adams, crashed into another boat driven by Cory C. Butler. Butler was impaled and later pronounced dead at the hospital. Tasha Adams, who initially claimed her teenage daughter was driving the boat, pleaded no contest to lying to a police officer. It was later revealed that Zachary Adams was actually behind the wheel and had left the scene intoxicated. Charges against Zachary Adams include negligent homicide, child abuse, and reckless operation of a vessel. The case is still ongoing, with the prosecutor's office continuing to collaborate with the victim's family on the proceedings.
