Woman arrested in fatal hit-and-run on bail for previous deadly accident
A 24-year-old woman is now in custody after allegedly being involved in two separate crashes in Long Beach that resulted in the deaths of three individuals over a period of three months. After the fatal collision on Oct. 6, 2025 that resulted in the death of bicyclist Raul Augustin Gallopa, Ahkeyajahnique Owens was arrested and released. She was allegedly involved in a second fatal crash on Sunday where two people were killed and three others were injured. Police claim Owens fled the scene before the authorities arrived. Owens turned herself in on Wednesday after forensic evidence linked her to both incidents. She has been booked into the Long Beach City Jail on a warrant for felony vehicular manslaughter related to the October crash with bail set at $200,000. Prosecutors will review the evidence from the most recent double-fatal collision next week for potential additional charges. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact LBPD's Collision Investigation Detail at 562-570-7110.
