Woman accused of DUI following Lincoln collision

A Central Falls woman in Rhode Island faced charges of DUI after crashing her car in Lincoln on Monday night. Shirley Catalan Pineda, 22, was driving at a high speed on Jenckes Hill Road when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree. There were seven passengers in her car, including four minors. Three of the minors sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. Two other passengers fled the scene after the crash. Those present in the car refused to provide their identities and cooperate with the investigation. Catalan Pineda displayed signs of being impaired, such as the smell of alcohol and slurred speech. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She has been charged with DUI and four counts of child endangerment, with the possibility of additional charges pending.
