Winter Haven resident critically injured in collision involving vintage 1968 GTO
The Winter Haven Public Safety Department reported that a man sustained serious injuries after a crash on Sunday morning. Witnesses state that he was driving recklessly in a 1968 GTO on Havendale Blvd and 16th St., weaving in and out of traffic and speeding. He lost control at a curve, where firefighters had to rescue him. He was later transported to Lakeland Regional Health as a trauma alert. Despite being conscious and communicative on the scene, he is currently in serious but stable condition. Authorities issued citations for speeding and failure to stay in his lane due to the accident circumstances.
