Westbound lanes of I-64 in Virginia Beach closed due to tractor-trailer fire
Update: The Virginia State Police have confirmed that the tractor-trailer accident on I-64 near Indian River Road in Virginia Beach has resulted in a fatality. Virginia State Police reported that a person has passed away in a severe crash involving a tractor-trailer on Monday morning. At one point, all lanes heading west at Indian River Road were shut down, but one lane heading west has been reopened. As of 8:42 a.m. on Monday morning, the westbound lanes are heavily congested up to Battlefield Blvd. Two eastbound lanes have also opened back up, but delays are extended up to the I-64/I-264 interchange as of 8:46 a.m. Motorists are urged to anticipate significant delays and consider taking an alternative route. It is recommended that drivers steer clear of the area or find alternate ways to reach their destination.
