Violent L.A. rollover crash leaves man dead, 3 others hospitalized

A single-vehicle rollover crash in a residential Sunland neighborhood left one man dead and three others hospitalized Monday, authorities confirmed to KTLA. Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of the crash at 11133 N. Oro Vista Avenue just after 6 p.m. The first arriving firefighters found an SUV that had rolled off an embankment and into Oro Vista Park, according to a department news release. One of the female victims was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. A teenage male and female, along with a man in his 20's, were hospitalized in serious condition. Paramedics determined the male victim was beyond medical intervention. He was pronounced dead at the scene and covered with a sheet as crews waited for investigators from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office to arrive and take custody of the body. A canopy was later erected over the remains. Aerial footage from Sky5 showed a heavy response from firefighters, including at least three ambulances and two fire engines. The deceased was seen near the driver’s side of the heavily damaged SUV, while firefighters and medical personnel worked nearby. It remains unclear what led to the rollover. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division is handling the ongoing investigation. No additional information, including the victims’ ages, identities or whether they were related, was immediately available. It is also unclear who was driving the vehicle at the time of the deadly crash.
