Villa Park woman faces aggravated DUI charges for causing head-on crash injuring 2: prosecutors
Two women were hurt in a car accident caused by a drunk driver in Villa Park last Wednesday, as reported by the DuPage County State's Attorney. The driver, Karina Alonso, 37, from Villa Park, is facing several charges including drunk driving, failure to report an accident with injuries, and driving with a suspended license. The incident occurred when Alonso allegedly drove into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. The injured women were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Alonso attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended a block away. She was found to be intoxicated, with a blood alcohol concentration almost twice the legal limit. She is scheduled for a court appearance on October 30 and remains in custody until then. Officials emphasized the dangers of drunk driving and the responsibility that comes with operating a vehicle.
