VIDEO | Fourth of July crash causes extensive damage to Moxham home as resident speaks out

Days after a home in the Moxham section of Johnstown was severely damaged by a crashing vehicle, 6 News spoke with the resident who was inside the house at the time of incident. "I came down to sit on the couch for five minutes when I heard a big boom." Local resident Brenda Scott says she was startled Saturday night when a vehicle crashed into her home along Cypress Avenue, causing extensive damage to the property and surrounding vehicles. She also shared home surveillance video with us, which appears to show the suspect vehicle crashing through her Moxham neighborhood, striking multiple other vehicles, as well as her home. Video taken by our crew on Monday shows the extent of some of the damage to her home, including bricks and shrubbery scattered across the area. 'I jumped up from the porch. My whole house shook! The first thing I noticed was that my car was gone; it was near the corner of the street, that's how hard the driver struck my car," Brenda told our crew. Brenda says that she witnessed multiple people inside the vehicle, some of whom were reportedly taken to the hospital. She also claimed that the driver was reportedly taken into custody by police. In a statement to 6 News, Johnstown Police Chief Mark Britton confirmed that there were four occupants inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Officials say three of the individuals suffered injuries, with one of them being transported by ambulance. As for the driver of the suspect vehicle, Chief Britton identified as an 18-year-old who was reportedly taken into custody under suspicion of DUI. Police say multiple field sobriety tests were conducted on-scene before the driver was taken to Conemaugh Hospital for further testing. Chief Britton says those pending results will determine if/what DUI-related charges may be filed. Emergency investigators also determined that the driver was allegedly traveling upwards of 50 to 60 mph at the time of the crash. Stay with us online and on-air for further updates.
