Victim in fatal crash identified as local councilman
SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The victim of a fatal crash in South Abington Township was identified as a Dickson City Councilman. According to the Lackawanna County Coroner, 70-year-old Michael Fedorka, of Dickson City, passed away in the hospital after a two-car crash on the 700 block of North State Street around 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 25. Fedorka was currently serving his fourth term on the Dickson City Borough Council. "It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of one of our Councilmen, and a former Council President, Michael Fedorka. Michael was currently serving his fourth term on the Borough Council and for many years, was the chairman of the Borough's planning commission. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers!" said the Dickson City Borough on their Facebook page. According to Chief Wolfe of the South Abington Police Department, the crash was a head-on collision between two pickup trucks. Chief Wolfe says the driver of the other vehicle is a 58-year-old man from Scranton who is in critical condition.
