Victim identified in fatal Laurel Drive auto-pedestrian crash; suspect charged
A man killed in an auto-pedestrian crash early Monday has been identified, according to the Laredo Police Department. Officers responded at about 12:46 a.m. Monday to the 1000 block of Laurel Drive in a neighborhood near Trautmann Elementary School. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Alejandro Cruz Jr. Police had initially reported Cruz as 19 years old. Investigators also arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the crash and charged her with manslaughter, a second-degree felony. The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
