Two suspects detained in fatal sledding accident of OKC mother
Over the past weekend in Northwest Oklahoma City, a woman lost her life in a tragic sledding accident, resulting in the arrest of two individuals. 31-year-old Makayla Mitchell was sledding with friends late Sunday night when the rope she was holding onto, attached to a car, broke, leaving her stranded on the road. Tragically, moments later, Mitchell was struck and killed by 24-year-old James Kirk, who was driving a separate vehicle behind her. The car that had been pulling Mitchell, driven by 22-year-old Angel Walzier, and Kirk's vehicle were both found on the scene with signs of impairment. Both individuals were apprehended and faced charges of second-degree murder and aggravated DUI. Mitchell's family expressed their profound sadness, highlighting her role as a devoted mother, entrepreneur, and compassionate individual. Reflecting on the impact she made in the lives of others, Mitchell's sister shared heartfelt sentiments about her loving nature and resilience in the face of adversity. This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with sledding behind a car. Another unfortunate sledding incident in Texas over the weekend resulted in the death of a 16-year-old being towed by a Jeep.
