Two killed in head-on Hardin County crash

PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCMH) -- Two people are dead after a head-on crash in Hardin County on Monday afternoon. According to the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened at approximately 5:49 p.m. on State Route 68 near State Route 701. A 2004 Volkswagen Passat, driven by Owen Bame, 27, of Dunkirk, was driving south on SR-68 while a 2014 Buick Encore, driven by Dori Spencer, 66, of Dunkirk, was traveling north. The sheriff's office said that for an unknown reason, the Encore crossed the roadway and hit the Passat head-on. Both Bame and Spencer were pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other people involved in the crash. The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the BKP Ambulance District, Kenton Fire Department, Dunkirk Fire and EMS, and the Hardin County Coroner's Office. The crash remains under investigation.
