Two kids dead, driver detained post-Christmas collision in North L.A. County
A tragic incident occurred on Christmas Day in northern Los Angeles County where two children lost their lives and a driver was taken into custody after a chain reaction collision on Interstate 5, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The collision took place on the northbound side of I-5 near Vista Del Lago Road in Lebec around 2:56 p.m. on Thursday. Details revealed that a parked gold Toyota RAV4, with occupants waiting inside, was rear-ended by a blue Nissan Rogue traveling in the same direction, occupied by two adults and six minors. The crash resulted in the ejection of three minors from the Nissan, leading to the unfortunate passing of two minors despite emergency assistance at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, Jorge Preciado, was arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment. The California Highway Patrol extended condolences to the families affected and urged the public to prioritize child safety seats for utmost protection. The incident happened amidst severe weather conditions in the region due to a winter storm causing hazardous driving situations in the area.
