Two hospitalized after auto-pedestrian accidents in same intersection

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Two pedestrians were hospitalized following two auto-pedestrian accidents at the same intersection on Thursday morning. According to the West Valley City Police Department (WVCPD), both incidents occurred at the intersection of 4700 South and 5600 West. The intersection is a border between West Valley City and Kearns. The first accident happened when a car was turning left and collided with a juvenile. There were no obvious injuries, but the juvenile was transported to Intermountain Medical Center (IMC) as a precaution. The driver remained at the scene, and the Unified Police Department is now handling the investigation. After the juvenile was struck, a good Samaritan who was driving by stopped to help. As they were stepping out of their vehicle, another car traveling westbound hit them. The victim was transported to IMC with a possible broken leg. The driver of the second incident fled the scene, and the WVCPD investigation team is working to identify a suspect. There are no further details available at this time.
