Two dead, two critically injured in Sunday morning crash
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Two people are dead, and two others are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after an early morning crash in Kansas City. According to the Kansas City Police Department, at about 4:40 a.m., a Ford Focus and a Chevrolet Tahoe were both driving eastbound on 350 Highway, just east of Westridge Road, when the Chevrolet rear-ended the Ford. Both cars drove off the side of the road, down a steep embankment, and into a wooded tree line before crashing. The driver of the Ford, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The front seat passenger, who was also unrestrained, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The front seat passenger is currently said to be in critical condition. The backseat passenger inside the Ford was also unrestrained and taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. KCPD confirmed they later died from their injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, who was not wearing a seatbelt, as well, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. They are currently in critical condition. At this time, the investigation into the crash is ongoing by KCPD.
