Two dead in fatal accident prompts renewed speed enforcement pleas

A fatal car crash occurred on Thursday night at the intersection of Powerline Road and Northwest 40th Street, resulting in the death of two individuals. The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) is currently investigating the two-vehicle collision. One of the victims has been identified as Teddy McCall Sr., a 65-year-old local landscaper. According to witness Jose Hernandez, who was nearby during the incident, the impact sounded like an explosion. He described the scene where a family member arrived and collapsed upon learning of the victims' demise as heartbreaking. The area has tragically witnessed another fatal incident in the past when 80-year-old Barbara Price was killed in a hit-and-run while crossing Powerline Road. Concerned residents highlighted speeding as a persistent issue along this roadway between Oakland Park Boulevard and Prospect Road. Floyd Carter, a resident familiar with Price, emphasized that speeding is rampant on Powerline and urged BSO to increase speed-monitoring patrols to prevent further tragedies.
