Trial starts for suspect in 2023 deadly drag racing accident
The trial of Trinity Clark continued on Tuesday in Knox County court, where she stands accused of partaking in a drag race on Magnolia Avenue that resulted in a fatal crash. Two Dodge Chargers were involved in the incident, running a red light and colliding with a Ford Explorer, leading to the death of Michael Williams and critical injuries to his grandchildren. Clark faces charges including vehicular homicide, drag racing, and aggravated assault. Testimonies from five witnesses were heard, including police officers and an assistant medical examiner describing the injuries sustained in the crash. Court proceedings are ongoing, with the defense making a motion for acquittal on Tuesday evening, which was denied by the judge. Further hearings are scheduled for Wednesday morning. Clark's codefendant, Tra'Shawn Glass, previously pleaded guilty to his involvement in the incident and received a 12-year prison sentence.
