Tragic Loss: Two Teen Siblings Killed in Collision with Semi-Truck
At 6:44 a.m. on June 16, 2025, the Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers arrived at a traffic collision on US Highway 380 near County Road 4011, just east of Decatur. Upon initial investigation, it was revealed that a blue 1994 Ford F-150 attempted to cross Hwy. 380 from Private Road 4011 in front of a 2005 Freightliner pulling a trailer. The Freightliner collided with the Ford truck, causing it to overturn in the median of Hwy. 380 while the Ford slid onto the grass on the south shoulder. Tragically, the front passenger of the Ford, 13-year-old Nolan Christensen, passed away at the scene, and the driver, his 16-year-old sister Sofia Christensen, succumbed to her injuries at Medical City Denton. However, the rear passenger, 12-year-old Ella Christensen, was taken to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, where she is expected to recover from her injuries. The Freightliner driver, 33-year-old Jose Feliz Rodriguez, sustained minor injuries. In response to the incident, Decatur ISD announced that Wise County Christian Counseling and First Baptist Church of Decatur would open their youth center for affected students. Additionally, counselors will be available to support students, families, and school personnel on June 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Decatur High School auditorium.
