Tragic collision claims lives of six horses on remote Kenosha County road.
Six horses died in a tragic collision with a pickup truck in Kenosha County, Wisconsin near the town of Bristol early Monday morning. According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred around 4:14 a.m. on December 22 at the intersection of County Trunk Highway WG and County Trunk Highway MB. A 67-year-old man from Antioch, Illinois was driving his 2004 Ford F-350 pickup truck to work in Kenosha when it struck multiple horses that had escaped from a fenced enclosure and entered the roadway. Despite significant damage to the truck and airbag deployment, the driver was unharmed. Deputies confirmed no signs of impairment or speed-related factors. Unfortunately, five horses died at the scene, and a sixth had to be euthanized due to injuries. The roadway was briefly closed for public safety, and citations related to animals at large are pending as the investigation continues. Sheriff David Zoerner expressed condolences to the horse owners, emphasizing the unexpected hazards rural roadways can pose, especially in low-visibility conditions. The investigation is ongoing.
