Tragic accident on US 75 in Allen takes the life of Garland man
The Allen Police Department is currently looking into a tragic accident that took place on southbound US 75 early Sunday morning, just south of the Bethany Drive overpass. Around 6:55 a.m., officers were called to the scene where a white Chevrolet Malibu had collided with a tractor-trailer. Initial reports suggest that the Malibu veered out of its lane and struck the back of the stationary tractor-trailer, which had its hazard lights on. Emergency personnel found the Malibu driver unresponsive and trapped in the vehicle, and sadly, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Malibu sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed and cooperated with authorities. Two southbound lanes of US 75 were closed for a few hours while the investigation took place. The deceased driver has been identified as 52-year-old Rodolfo Rodriguez Sr. of Garland. The Allen Police Department expresses its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Rodriquez during this difficult time. The incident is still being looked into by the Allen Police Department Traffic Unit, and no further details are available at present.
