Tragic accident on LA highway kills Call of Duty co-creator
One of the creators of the renowned Call of Duty video game series tragically passed away in a car accident over the weekend in Southern California. Reports indicate that Vince Zampella was driving a Ferrari when the vehicle collided with a concrete barrier on Angeles Crest Highway, resulting in a fire. The California Highway Patrol confirmed the incident occurred on Sunday at 12:43 p.m. at mile marker 62 on the highway. The crash, involving a single vehicle, occurred when it swerved off the road for unknown reasons, leading to the fatal injuries of both occupants. Even though officials did not disclose the identities of the individuals involved, game journalist Geoff Keighley mourned Zampella's passing, describing him as a prominent figure in the video game industry. Zampella, who co-founded Infinity Ward with Jason West in 2003, played a pivotal role in creating the Call of Duty franchise, which achieved massive success with titles such as "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare." Following their departure from Infinity Ward and subsequent legal battles, Zampella later co-founded Respawn Entertainment, contributing to hit games like Titanfall and Apex Legends. More recently, he was overseeing EA's Battlefield series.
