Tragic accident in southeast Kansas claims life of little girl

A two-year-old girl has died after a farm-related incident in Allen County, Kansas.Read the full press release from the sheriff's office below:"On Monday evening, March 16, the Allen County Sheriff's Office and other emergency units responded to a report of a two-year-old being backed over by a truck.The Allen County Communications center received a 911 call just before 6 pm from the child's mother, who reported what had happened and said she and her husband were driving the child to the hospital. Working with a calm 911 dispatcher, the child's breathing and other medical conditions were assessed. The child was transferred roadside into an Allen County ambulance three miles east of Humboldt and transported to Allen County Regional Hospital. The child was later transferred by air ambulance to Children's Mercy Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The Allen County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, which occurred on a farm two and a half miles northwest of Elsmore. There is no foul play suspected at this time, and it appears to have been a tragic farm-related accident.The Sheriff's Office extends our heartfelt condolences to the family members and all those affected by this tragedy, including the Allen County dispatchers and first responders."
