Thruway section shut down due to intense tractor-trailer collision in Lackawanna.
The highway was shut down for several hours early Sunday morning due to a fiery collision involving two tractor trailers. The Newton Abbott Fire Company responded to the incident between Ridge Rd. and Route 179 in Lackawanna at around 3:30 a.m. Thankfully, both drivers were unharmed as one truck was fully engulfed in flames and the other was emitting heavy smoke. By 6 a.m., the left lane was reopened, and by 3:30 p.m., the right lane was also accessible. The cause of the crash is still unknown.
