
Three people killed in plane crash near California shoreline
Over the weekend, a tragic incident occurred when a small plane crashed in the Pacific Ocean off the central California coast, resulting in the loss of three lives. Responding to reports just before 11 p.m. Saturday, emergency crews were alerted to the crash of a twin-engine Beechcraft carrying three individuals about 300 yards off Point Pinos in Monterey County, according to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). The victims were identified as Steve Eugene Clatterbuck, 60, of Salinas, James Vincent, 36, of Monterey, and Jamie Lee Tabscott, 44, of Monterey. The aircraft had left San Carlos airport at 10:11 p.m. and was last detected at 10:36 p.m. near Monterey. A witness reported hearing the plane circling at low altitude for about 30 seconds before a crash. Search operations involving Coast Guard, local law enforcement, and fire agencies spanned 13 hours, covering 346 miles of trackline across an area of about 100 square miles. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, while the victims' families have requested privacy during this difficult period.
