Three dead, including a 5-year-old, in fatal commercial vehicle collision
Three people died in a Jefferson County car crash, including a five-year-old child. Dquarious M. Butler, 29, of Liberty, Miss., was driving a 1995 379 Peterbilt tractor-trailer when it collided with a 2021 Kenworth W900L commercial vehicle. Dquarious was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he ultimately passed away. The five-year-old and passenger Dominque M. Butler, 32, were both fatally injured in the crash, with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) noting that the child wasn't properly secured. Also in their vehicle were three children, ages 1, 2 and 8, who were all injured in the crash. The three are now recovering at a local hospital. Dquarious and the commercial vehicle collided on I-59 near mile marker 138 in Trussville. ALEA is investigating the circumstances that lead up to the deadly crash.
