Teenagers from high school running team hurt as car veers off Anaheim sidewalk
A group of eight teenagers who are part of the track and field team from Anaheim High School were injured in an accident on Wednesday when a car veered onto a sidewalk in Anaheim. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. near the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and North Street, as confirmed by the Anaheim Police Department. According to authorities, the driver of a red Toyota Corolla was heading south on Harbor when the collision occurred, striking the teenagers who were waiting at the corner for the crosswalk signal. All eight students were taken to the hospital with injuries of differing degrees, but they were expected to recover. The driver was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence by Anaheim PD, and they were also hospitalized for injuries sustained in the crash. The police report mentioned that the track team's coach witnessed the unfortunate event unfold as he was following behind the group. He expressed his sympathy for the students and their coach, emphasizing the unpredictability of such tragedies.
