Teenage girl dies in Carrick crash due to winter weather, officials report
The tragic death of a teenage girl in last year's crash in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood has been attributed to winter weather conditions. Ishara Kami lost her life when a vehicle slid and struck her along Brownsville Road in December. Pittsburgh officials stated that the driver likely lost control of the vehicle due to the weather at the time. In remembrance of Kami, Pittsburgh Public Schools highlighted her kind spirit, helpful nature, and compassionate care for others. The Vision Zero Fatal Crash Response Team, after examining the crash site at the intersection of Brownsville Road and Woodford Avenue, will now be implementing safety improvements, such as curb extensions along West Woodford Avenue. This response team collaborates with the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure to enact safety recommendations and prevent future fatal incidents.
