Suspect arrested in connection with fatal Lodi crash on Highway 99

(FOX40.COM) — A suspect was arrested in connection with a four-vehicle crash that killed two people on Tuesday in Lodi, according to authorities. The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office confirmed that 24-year-old Manvir Singh, identified as the driver of the big rig, was arrested after a crash around 12:20 p.m. on northbound Highway 99, south of Harney Lane. The California Highway Patrol said that the big rig skidded off the highway and into a guardrail. Three other vehicles were involved in the crash, resulting in two deaths. CHP said the suspect had fled the scene on foot before being placed in custody. Singh was arrested on charges including vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run resulting in death, according to jail records. His bail is set for $185,000 and he is expected to be in court on Thursday. It is currently unclear what caused the crash. the victims have not been identifed.
