Surviving Aurora Crash: Teen's Account

Students gathered at the location of a tragic crash in Aurora to honor the memory of their friend who lost his life in the incident. The accident occurred near a Sprout’s grocery store at the junction of East Alameda and South Chambers Road when two vehicles were involved in a street race. One of the cars, driven by a 19-year-old named Edwin Rosales-Sandoval, lost control and veered off the road in the early hours of Saturday. Yolanda Hernandez, who was in the car when it crashed, shared her experience of the event. The young man who tragically passed away in the crash was like a brother to her. As of Monday, the victim's identity had not been disclosed. Authorities have charged Rosales-Sandoval with offenses including vehicular homicide, reckless driving, DUI, and driving with a revoked license. Aurora police highlighted the alarming number of accidents involving drivers under 19 and emphasized the importance of preventing such reckless incidents. They are working with prosecutors to enhance DUI laws to deter drivers with prior DUI offenses. Hernandez emphasized the importance of wearing seatbelts and expressed gratitude for surviving the accident.
