Stuart woman pleads guilty to DUI manslaughter in fatal bicycle crash
A Stuart woman entered a plea in court in connection with a deadly 2024 vehicle crash.Elise V. Elder, 25, pleaded guilty on April 29 to DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.Elder is scheduled to be sentenced on June 26 in a Martin County courtroom.Your neighborhood: Local coverage from WPBF 25 NewsOn the morning of June 28, 2024, Elder was driving a dark blue BMW 535I and was traveling east on State Road A1A toward South Sewall’s Point Road on the Evans Crary Bridge, also known as the 10-cent Bridge.The victim, 67-year-old Martin Drummond from Sewall’s Point, was riding a bicycle and was traveling east in the bicycle lane toward South Sewall’s Point Road.According to an incident report, Elder’s BMW entered the bicycle lane and hit Drummond’s bicycle from behind and did not stop after the crash.Drummond was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.Elder was arrested at her home by the Florida Highway Patrol.Get the latest news updates with the WPBF 25 News app. You can download it here.
