Southern California firefighter dies in off-duty crash
The San Bernardino County Fire Department announced the tragic death of one of their own Wednesday morning. Firefighter paramedic Ryan Spandrio was killed in a traffic collision while off duty on Tuesday, San Bernardino County fire officials said on social media. It was not disclosed exactly where and when the crash occurred. Spandrio worked at Fire Station 224 in San Bernardino, the department said. He was described as someone who served his community “with honor, professionalism and courage.” “[Ryan] was a valued member at Fire Station 224 and a true public servant who demonstrated compassion and a commitment to the community,” the department’s social media post reads. He leaves behind a wife and children. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
