Soccer player from Cal State Fullerton dies weeks after e-scooter accident
Tragically, one of the two Cal State University Fullerton women's soccer players who were seriously injured in a September e-scooter accident with a box truck has passed away, as shared by her family on November 7. They announced that Lauren Turner, a sophomore, has "fallen asleep in the Lord." Turner and her teammate, Ashlyn Gwynn, were involved in the accident while riding e-scooters to a soccer game and were both hospitalized with severe injuries. Despite spending close to six weeks in the ICU, Turner unfortunately did not recover. Her family described her as a person who approached everything with heart and joy, bringing laughter and positivity to those around her. Donations can still be made to support Turner's family through the GoFundMe page dedicated to her case. On the other hand, Gwynn's parents updated her condition as a "miracle," sharing that she is making progress in her recovery. After spending time in the ICU, Gwynn has been moved to a specialized unit for therapy and monitoring. Her parents expressed gratitude for the support received and hope for her continued progress toward eventually returning home for outpatient care. Donations to assist Gwynn's family during this challenging time can be made through their GoFundMe page.
